Wilson perpetrator and test blocks deal.

I found a local guy selling a Wilson brale c diamond penetrator and three test blocks in a kit. He wants $200 for them. The blocks still have plenty of space for tests. I'm in the market so what do you think. Is this a decent deal?

    New to 1075, advice please.

I just got some 1075 from Aldo and was wondering if 1500f was were I should start for the austenizing temp. I'm working on a 1/4" chopper. I read that 1500 was good and also read it needs a little higher temp. Just looking for a good starting point.

    Didn't harden in water.

I tried quenching a couple w2 1/8" profiled knives in water. I didn't grind the bevel yet. I'm just playing around and I usually quench in parks 50 and have been happy but just wanted to experiment. Neither knife hardened. There was a lot of the boiling type activity going on and I used my same...

    Question about edge bur.

I have been having issues with breaking off the edge bur. It doesn't want to bend the other way when stropping or through wood. It doesn't bend or break without a lot of pressure. This is with a .oo1" primary edge. Is this good or bad?

    1095 for parang?

I can't find any 1084 or 1075 in the size I need and was wondering how 1095 would do for a 11" blade parang. I'm confident in the heat treat I'm just worried about it being able to take heavy chopping. I haven't done much with 1095 mostly 1085 and w2.

Help with W2 heat treat results

I treated four W2 coupons today. All were normalized 1650 to black 1500 to black 1350 to black and two with a 1he 1200 soak. Two were quenched in parks 50 at 1460 and two at 1470. 1 of the 1460 got a 1200 soak and one of the 1470 got a 1200 soak. The 1470 with a 1200 soak was by far the hardest...

Just wanted to say the eyelet dyes from USAKnifeMaker are as good as it gets. I installed them in my arbor press and got perfect eyelets on the first try. Wish I got them sooner. No more cracked eyelets for me.

I have a Tens machine from a back injury that I never use anymore and was wondering if anyone has used or thinks it may be used for a etcher. For those who don't know, a Tens uses a adjustable electric pulse to help relieve pain to the body.

    Stainless water qench?

Just curios what your thoughts on water or oil quenching air hardening steels in the air/water tight pouch. Does stainless benefit from rapid cooling?
