I saw a video somewhere that a guy had mounted his motor on a hinged platform so that its weight would keep the drive belt tight. Has anyone done this or know of the pros and cons of doing it.

I'll be finishing my grinder build here shortly. I was wondering what would be the best steel for a newbie to start out with for building his first knives. I plan on sending the blades to Pete's heat treating to have them heat treated. Thanks David

I keep seeing different makers say use a used belt to make your first grinds with or you will strip all the grit off a new belt. But if you don't have a used belt how do you turn a new one into a used one with out wrecking it? Have 3 60grit AO belts all brand new. Would rather not trash one...

What would you recommend as the proper thickness of a Liner. Say for a knife with a 4 1/2 handle and 3 1/4 blade. The measurement's are just kind of tossed out there to give me a reference point. Thanks David

Does everyone use Ti for their liners. Or is there another material that you use. And where is the best place for the buck to by Ti.

Not sure what Forum to put this in but I've found not really an error in the grinder plans but something that got missed on the main materials list. It doesn't mention the 2x9x3/8 flat platen plate. You have to find out about it when you get back into the actual diagram. I'll be going back to...

My question is if I purchase a knife blank and finish out making a knife out of it. Am I allowed to sell it as a knife I made with only mention of where the blade was purchased from. Or what are the legal ramifications on it? Thanks David

I'm going to install a 1 1/2 hp single phase motor on the NWGS I'm building does anyone have. a wiring diagram that will help me hook it up. I am mounting it on a old 24x24 base cabinet so the switch will be mounted through the wall on one side.
