    Damascus and Mammoth

Here is one I recently finished for my grandson's 1st birthday. 60 layer twist pattern with mammoth tusk scales and red G-10 liners that are museum fit to the blade. I need to finish a few steps on the mammoth tusk stand and get it glued up, but I think it's turning out pretty good.

    The Gambler

Here’s a couple I recently finished. It’s a new model I’m calling the Gambler. The blades are 75 layer twist damascus. Ivory G-10 scales with red liners and pins that are heirloom fit to the blades. 6 1/2” overall length. They fit in a horizontal carry sheath with a retaining strap.

    Kimmi’s 2022 KITH

Well, I’m getting a late start, but I’ll try to make this one worth the wait. I’ve been thinking of making a shorter, fat Bowie, so I sat down and got a design drawn up. It’ll be a W2 blade with a hamon, tapered tang and heirloom fit scales. I haven’t decided what the scales will be, but...

    Scrap Damascus Dagger

Here's a dagger I recently finished. 7 1/2" blade, 12 3/4" overall. The blade and guard are out of a canister of scraps/end cuts of damascus and 1084 powder. The handle is a piece of Ironwood burl, museum fit to the guard.

    W2 Bowie

I finished the Bowie with the w2 blade with a hamon. The guard is wrought iron from an old anchor chain. The koa handle has a heirloom/museum fit. I was trying to come up with an idea for stamping on the sheath to really tie it to the knife and decided on this. I think the hamon on it...

    Kimmi/Walker 2021 KITH

After some discussion, Kaleb and I decided to make what I call a vest Bowie for our KITH knives. Here is the design we decided on. After hearing that Kaleb had a pretty good start on his knife, I figured I better get started. I traced the pattern onto my steel, .200” AEB-L. Next, I cut out...

    2021 KITH is here.

This year for the KITH, we will be doing a design collaboration KITH. Once paired, the makers will collaborate with the maker they are paired with to come up with a knife profile to build. All other details will be up to the individual maker to decide. The hopes in doing the KITH this way is...

    No more blisters!

After hand sewing the last batch of sheaths, I decided enough was enough and ordered a Cowboy Outlaw hand operated sewing machine. It came in this week, so I made a quick bench for it and got it set up. I threw together a phone holster today. The machine worked great sewing through 5 layers...

    Another wedding ring

At my family's Christmas, my niece asked if I could make her fiancé's wedding ring. How could I say no? They are getting married in January, so I thought I'd do a WIP as I made this one. Here's the billet of damascus I'm cutting the ring from. I used a cut off wheel on an angle grinder to...

    Damascus for my son's wedding

Our son is getting married on the 19th and he asked if I could make a damascus wedding ring. I've had the damascus made for a while, and had planned to take it to a friend's house to have him help me turn it on his lathe. First, his family caught Covid which delayed the turning of the ring...

    Water Jet Cutting

I've been considering this for the last year or so and finally decided to check into it. I have to say, I'm super pleased with the results. New Jersey Steel Baron did an excellent job at what I consider a great price. I am hoping that going this route with my stock removal knives will...

    Big surprise today

I received my copy of Knives 2021 and was super surprised to find 2 of my knives in it. I'm truly honored to have my knives published alongside makers who are WAY better than I am. Big thanks to Caleb Royer for editing the photos and sending to the publications.

    Opinions on Design

A few evenings ago, I was setting around and came up with this design for a new project. It will be an integral design with the blade, guard, keyhole and tang being all one piece. I am thinking of a mosaic damascus with a twist pattern border on it. I like the idea of domed damascus...

    Koa Block Sale!

I have an abundance of lower quality koa blocks that I need to move. They have all been stabilized by K&G and all are at least 1" X 1 1/2" X 5". These blocks have lower figuring, uneven coloring or sapwood in them. I will ship these USPS flat rate. 2 blocks for $50 shipped or 4 blocks for...

    GKimmi's 2020 KITH

I'm really excited to get started on this one for scherf68. Unfortunately, I have several on the bench to finish and I go in next Friday to have a disc replacement surgery on my neck. It will probably be a couple weeks before I really get started on it, but I sat down today to put a couple...

    AEB-L and Spalted Maple Burl

Here's one I just finished. The 3 3/4" blade is AEB-L. The handle is spalted maple burl that I had K&G stabilize. I made the guard from 1/4" nickel silver. I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out and may add a similar model to my line up. Thanks for looking!

    Tactical or Non-tactical?

What, in your opinion, defines a knife as tactical or non-tactical?

    Bad forge weld?

I finished this knife up a week or so ago and have a question on one of the welds. I started with 2 cubes of crushed w's that were 1" x 1" x 3/4". They were stacked on top of each other and forge welded together in 2 heats, squeezing them 2-3 times each heat in my press. Then the billet was...

    Number 200

I finished up my 200th knife today. When I made my 100th, I decided every 100th knife, I would make something I hadn't made yet. This one is my first feather pattern. I decided to make it with crushed w's, that I hadn't made before either. I need to improve my splitting method so I can...
