A Tool That's Just About Eliminated Hand Sanding...almost!

I've been using wheels like this in my drill press for some sanding. https://www.amazon.in/3M-Scotch-Brite-X-Weight-Aluminum-Diameter/dp/B00EW81W5I

    Thoughts on Gift Giving

You are right that the knife shop may not be the right place for them. It's hard to give up, but sometimes it's necessary. We have seen this a couple of times in our Scout troop. Most of them do mature eventually and become responsible and productive humans. We pride ourselves on being very...

    Glass Patten

There have been a few different threads on glass platens over the past few years. Here's one: https://www.knifedogs.com/threads/adhesives-for-holding-glass-to-platen.51228/ One thing that seems to be important is some sort of shelf or pins under the bottom edge of the glass to support it in...

Question re: Copper liners on Carbon Fiber.

I had a little trouble getting the epoxy (G Flex) to stick to my copper spacers. I roughed up the smooth face of the pieces and that seemed to help with adhesion. I was careful not to go all the way out to the edge though as I didn't want the scratches to show on the edges.

    Looking for a Mike Morey...

Anybody here know of a maker named Mike Morey in Arizona? I bought a knife at an art/jewelry shop in Scottsdale where there were several damascus knives on display with a little bit of info about the maker. Shop owner said he has a website, but I have not found him on-line anywhere.

Awesome work Dennis! And your leatherwork is inspiring me again, as always. On the sheath for the filet knife, is there something inside to protect the line of stitching?

    DeMo 2022 Kith

Looks awesome Dennis! I ordered a couple of Ironwood blocks the other day for scales. I hope they have some nice character like those do. Is it hard to work with?

Tinting the epoxy is good idea. What do you use for "black dry paint"? Is that like tempera paint powder?

    New Guy

Welcome! Sounds like a good way to start. Many suppliers like USA Knifemaker have knife blanks that you can add custom handles to. That might make a good next step if you aren't sure about jumping into stock removal/heat treating/forging right away. It's a good way to get started without a huge...

What's going on in your shop?

In due time... I know it sort of looks like a Home Handyman magazine photo shoot now, but wife says I need to figure out a way to keep the dust contained before I start making any.

    Damascus bolsters

as mentioned, seems like it would be tough to get something to blend in... Could you do something that contrasts the Damascus? Maybe gold or silver, with a little engraved design? Or through bolt with countersunk head and nut with mother-of-pearl inlay caps? (Just spitballing here...)
