    Blunt knives

A few points on this from a British knife maker. Knives are the weapon of choice for street dealers. Territory wars are the one single item that has upped knife crime dramatically in the UK. However this is because the cops are basically ignoring it because our prisons are all full and police...

    New Temper oven

As long as you test. Record and repeate everything else matters far less. Some would have us believe we need to drop a five figure sum to make great knives. Funny but some really fantastic blades where made before we even had electric available The guy that taught me in his final years was...

    Scratches or cracks?

They look like previously disguised file tooth marks. Cracks nearly alway run from the edges and rarely cross at 90 degrees to each other but straight and draw filing gouges will

    Antler shod rasp knives

I always think long and hard about shape, never really aesthetics or fashions just intended use. On the drawing board to card then to mild steel template profiles. The longer one is most unusual for myself because I don't like recurve design much but it's got just a midges of recurve just for...

Second hidden tang and first full forge.

Keeping the steel in the correct working range is the main error when starting out. Strike while the iron is hot right Tools are always secondary Do you understand pre forms before you start hitting it? It's very very good to be able to forge that out early doors though

    Before heat treat...

Depends on the blade dimensions, steel chose and purpose. I dont want to crack or warp a thin blade ground down to finish or near finish but I also don't want a big heavy blade with a massive amount of grinding yet to be done, especially if forged from a highly wear resistant steel.
