    Maple burl blocks

@Owl should get the first right of refusal since he was the one with the "I'll take it" when they were unstabilized. That's my opinion, YMMV.

    Maple burl blocks

:D You must not fish or hunt. Sometimes it takes more than 15 minutes for critters to find you & come to your bait! You had and "I'll take 'em" in just over 24 hours on an archaic knife forum that has like 6 regular posters. I'd say that's a pretty good conversion timeframe for the environment.

    Looking for some basic info

The top one looks like an AK-47 or 74 bayonet, but I don’t know the country. The bottom one is also a bayonet, but not sure to what. You may get more responses on a military firearms collectors forum. Falfiles.com would be a great place to start. Deep knowledge pool of obscure military...

    1939 Studebaker Leaf Spring Interest???

It also looks heavily pitted & corroded, which increases the probability of stress corrosion cracking, especially on stock as thin as that. Most serious makers use steels of known origin and provenance. Not saying you shouldn't try to offer it, just suggesting reasons you may get limited interest.

    Welder under $1000.

You will be fine using flux core wire. No gas req'd. It's messier, but it sounds like it best suits your needs.

Straight CO2 won’t do a beginner any favors. YMMV, of course.

    Welder under $1000.

Standard MIG ops use 75/25 Argon/CO2 mix. That will likely be your most cost-effective mix, too. I definitely would never recommend not using shielding gas, as its purpose is much more than for making welds look “pretty”. Trust me when I tell you that you’ll make plenty of “ugly” welds with...

    Welder under $1000.

You can do autogenous TIG on the entire perimeter of your stacks to completely seal up for a “fluxless” billet, but it is pretty time consuming. Not necessary for building traditional stacks. Any mild MIG wire or SMAW deposit metals will be kept to the outer edges of the billet and won’t be an...

    Welder under $1000.

Look at Primeweld. I have two, and am very happy with both. A lot of welder for the money, excellent warranty & reputation, and US support (haven’t needed to date, but nice to know they are responsive) and native English technical docs. Even the packaging is high quality. Worth a look.

    Yuge air compressor

If you are going to go to the trouble of feeding a blast cabinet, you may as well help justify the cost of your yuge compressor by getting a pneumatic power hammer too.

    Chittum Burl

I received a pair of chittum burl scales in a box of scales I bought from another maker. Had no idea what it was. Some beautiful stuff!

    Midwest Knifemaker’s Guild Hammer-In 2023

So I get this email advertising that tickets are on sale for this event. Cool. But there is zero information presented in the email or the linked website that outlines any kind of itinerary, schedule, presenters (except Nick Rossi), events, or any other meaningful information. If I were...

Sharpening a Knife with a Belly (Inside Curve)

I've never done a recurve blade, but I'd think a slack belt might one way to help you get where you want to be. Or, use the 2" wheel at the top of your flat platen arm. Even better if your 2" wheel is rubber. If not a lighter touch may do it, but the belt bump might be too much..

    First real show

Nice! That is an honor to be asked. I hope it drives some traffic for your shop. I'm betting it will! Since you asked for input, if it were mine I would consider replacing the backing board with a flat/soft single color backing and raising your name/logo sign board to the top of the display...
