I am looking for a really cheap air hammer and so far the cheapest I've seen is the "iron kiss 50 octagon" what i want to use it for is general forging and hopefully Damascus work, though making one isn't entirely out the window just buying one that is ready to be assembled is more desirable...

I have an anvil that was in the same condition though it is a 75 lb anvil and after some heavy duty sanding it is now my primary anvil

Though with that pattern I don't think really much could distract from the magnificence of the blade :)

Could somebody please do a damascus tutorial I know there is one with video but could there be one made using imgur since my browser is now being strangled by AT&T and imgur seems to load well despite the bandwidth reduction. Thanks, Tyler

I have been tasked with making a katana for a friend and all I have is 1080, would that be good to use for forging and creating a good hamon.

Thank you both for the great advice, and also thanks for the metal recommendations I already have some 1080 now all that is left is to get myself some 15n20. :) Edit: I knew about the galvanization, plan was to have me stand behind a big fan that is blowing the fumes away

I am wanting to get in to the world of damascus but i have a few questions (I could go with the flat stock but cable and chain is easier for me to get) 1. for cable damascus do you just get ungalvanized cable or to you just put the cable in the forge to let the coating burn off then forge it...
