    Flash tempering

    What are the drawbacks? (sorry bad pun...but I couldnt resist :o) I have always tempered in an oven, but I know some guys who flash temper, or temper with heat and watch the color until it goes to straw. Is tempering a matter of just heat or is it heat and time? Sean

    Ive got some Koa that Ive had for some time. I have never used it that I can remember. I know this stuff is very dense, but I was wondering can it be used without being stabalized? I realize all wood can be used without being stab. but does the Koa have shrinkage problems if not stabalized...

    Best grind for a folder

    All other things being equal, which grind do you prefer on a traditional slipjoint, flat grind or hollow? The reason I ask is Ive been doing some flat grinds lately and really like them. Of course Im waiting for a 14" wheel.:biggrin: Sean
