1075 heat treat?

Thank you! i've heard everything from bringing it to really weird temperatures or giving it like a 15 minute soak so I really wasn't sure. Thanks again!

The 10XX series steels in this carbon range are really as simple as Dennis pointed out. In fact you also have decalescence to work with as well as the magnet, and once the decalescence shadow is gone you can just quench. Iron carbide (all there is in these steels) dissolves very quickly.

Thank you sir! Great info!

Daniel you got good advice from both Dennis and Kevin. When it comes to the metallurgy side of knife making, Kevin is the man, he wrote the book figuratively and literally!

Take a look at this in the HT section. https://knifedogs.com/threads/your-heat-treating-tool-box.22568/

EDIT:

OK this is what I was looking for. http://www.cashenblades.com/info.html Bookmark this and guard it with your life!!:p
Seriously this is a link to almost anything you want to know about HT and some you didn't want to know. Occasionally I loose myself in the technical info but I know if Kevin said it well,...……….. it is the best advice you will get! From that page click on HT and you will find the whole operation for nearly any steel you can think of! Kevin Cashen was one of the names given me by my adopted mentor when I first got started and the other was Karl Anderson. He told me anytime I saw anything under either of their names to pay attention and read and re-read!!
