2021 KITH is here.

Gene Kimmi

KNIFE MAKER
This year for the KITH, we will be doing a design collaboration KITH. Once paired, the makers will collaborate with the maker they are paired with to come up with a knife profile to build. All other details will be up to the individual maker to decide. The hopes in doing the KITH this way is that it will be easier for makers to be able to compare their work to others since the basic design is the same. Below is a picture of what I would consider the minimum a design should be. Just the profile of a blade with a few measurements so when the design is sent back and forth, dimensions can be checked.

We will need to decide on a deadline to enter and a date to have the knives finished. Suggestions?

Here is a list of those who are in.

FD Kingery
Bruce McLeish
Owl
Brad Walker
Gene Kimmi
Kev
tkroenlein
Sean Jones
KWalker

If I have missed anyone or listed someone wrong, let me know. If anyone else wants in, post here.

Edited to add, since we all like pictures of knives and processes, it would be nice if you could do a WIP thread on your knife build. Once these threads are started, I can link them in this thread so they are easy to find.

I'm still a maybe...though I'm leaning towards just diving in. I have a tendency to over commit and then I end rushing things. I'll quit being wishy-washy when a deadline is set.

Thanks for doing this Gene

I’m going to have to bail. Building and moving into a house will take up all of my time.
I regret not participating, but will definitely be in next year provided the creek don’t rise. ;)

I'm thinking Oct. 1st to enter the KITH and a finish date of mid or late January. Usually, we have tried to finish by Christmas, but it seems December is always busy with the holidays and for those who sell knives trying to get Christmas orders filled. If anyone has a different opinion, let us know.

Okay I'm off the fence and will participate. The January deadline is much more agreeable. As you say Christmas is always busy.

Well sorry you have to count me out. I’m having surgery on my knee in 3 weeks. I actually wanted to postpone it because of this, but my wife vetoed that.
