The piece started out as this...the bottom one in the pic, the other two are buried...

now it has transformed into this I still need hammer control and a softer touch...and some more hammers and a real anvil and tongs hahah donations welcome.

Nice , I am itching to get to forge a blade , someday I hope to either acquire the stuff to do it , or visit someone who does , for now I am stuck with stock removal......

John, don't dispare over being "stuck" doing stock removal. You are learning skills that you will still need when you put the equiptment together to forge with. On getting equiptment, don't think that you have to get everything at once and see what you can adapt to forging or make yourself to set up your forge. The only thing that I haven't found good substitutes for is tongs.
