Antler handle for hidden tang

KNIFE MAKER
I've got some Elk antler I'm using for the handle on a hidden tang. I'm wondering how people finish the raw butt end of the knife? What options are there if you're not doing a through tang? Looking for ideas.

You have endless options. I use wood, brass, g10, stainless, mosaic pins, all kinds of stuff.

Thanks Dennis. How are you attaching them? Pins, screws? Beautiful work BTW.

The ones with the mosaic pins. I use the mosaic pin as a connector. I leave them 1/2, 3/4 inch long and put them into the elk handle. I usually use at least one more, sometimes two or three 1/8 inch pins drilled into the handle material.

I need to find better friends...
I use a tap and die lately to thread my tangs. I just saw a video that showed a method I'm going to try. The idea is to use a hex head screw. Heat the hex head up and flatten it to the thread diameter. Saw or grind a notch in the flattened part (think notch in an arrow). Grind the end of the tang to fit in this slot. Drill a hole and pin. You can make this to give some up vertical movement of the threaded hex bolt.
