Black metal dust in my handle

Hello all - after finishing up my handle nice and smooth I went ahead and polished my bolster. In doing so I had transferred the metal dust from the sandpaper to the wood and now I have black dust in the grain.

Is there a way to easily clean this up?

The short answer is NO. If it's buffing swarf/grit/compound it's next to impossible clean up without grinding/refinishing the handle material past the depth of the contamination. For future reference, especially if the handle material is light in color, or has an open grain, carefully tape off the handle material with painter's tape BEFORE you even go near the buffer, or try to "polish" the bolsters or guard.

Ain't it the truth! But, I'm filing this stuff away as subject matter for future videos on KnifeMakerTraining.com! :)
