I am to the cutting the relief angle on the blade and fitting the lock. Ive never cut blade to fit lock, always cut lock to fit blade. Sooo..I am a little confused about the process. Not sure how much to take off of blade and do I do the normal 8 degee angle ? Mark blade thru lock slit with a xacto . Then cut the blade back to the line left by lock ? Any input would be much appreciated !

thanks

Dave

Dave,

I've not made a liner lock yet but have recently been researching them. This link has some of the better lock and stop pin fit up instructions out there. Google Liner lock tutorials and you'll find 4 or 5, all of which are helpful in some way.

Ive made many liner locks but made them differently than than this process. I even have Don Robinson's book on fitting the lock but the blade is cut first and lock 2nd. So its the lock first and blade 2nd that is throwing me. I ll check out the links

thanks

Ive made many liner locks just never did one in reverse as far as the lock is already cut and you have to cut the blade. I marked up the blade with layout fluid and clamped knife open. Marked through the lock gap with an xacto blade and cut it back to the line it made at 8 degrees. It locks up real tight.
