C guard fighter

Well, I've checked into this forum for several days and it hasn't got much going on, so,...I'll post something.

Here is a knife I am making for a KITH. The KITH theme is "Fighter" (Still room and time for more in the KITH if anyone is so inclined)

I wanted to make a C guard Fighter.

Here is my rough cut pieces.

I tried to make the guard out of 1/4 inch brass.

This is what happened when I tried to bend it.

So I chickened out and salvaged the piece. And added a piece of wood to the handle.

Then I decided I really wanted to try a C guard, so I forged (well technically I made it by stock removal and then shaped it by forging) one from 1095.

I put the red hot guard onto the tang for a test fit, and it cooled and would not come off. I finally got it off, but you see what it did to my ricasso. :( I decided that grinding out the marks would ruin my guard fit, so I decided to simply keep going with the hammer and peened the ricasso, Blade top and will probably do the same with the guard.

I also decided to try a darker handle piece so I used some buffalo horn.

There it is so far, Will update as I make progress. I like this style enough that I will have to make another one for me. I love the way the C guard is comming out.

What do you think? It is for a KITH so I'm wanting input to make sure what I end up putting into the "hat" will not displease whoever ends up with it.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten. :( It never fails to surprise me, the lack of participation of the people on knife websites. Heck, even if you hate it you could say so. Feedback is the purpose of most thread submissions. I'm guessing the lack of new posts on this forum is more that people are tired of browsers who don't participate. Whats the point?

I am not a big fan of bowies but I love to see Antler on a knife and this one is a corker. I would love to draw this one in a KITH. I would love to see how it turns out.

Thank you sir. Can I assume "Corker" is a good thing? Haha

I have stressed over this knife like no other I have made. I literally have 4 different horns, 2 guards and several spacers that I have gone thru trying to get it right, and I needed some input...

Thanks

I think whomever is lucky enough to get this in the KITH ought to feel fortunate! Were you going to keep the hole in the cutting edge as is? It's a very complicated knife, handle material, C guard. It will be great looking!

Sorry, yes corker is a good thing. I like the spacers and horn you have in the last picture. Look forward to seeing it finished!
