Here is my latest offering. A great blade with excellent balance and handling. You can chop trees or slice tomatoes with this one. As usual your comments and suggestions are very welcome.

1075 differentially hardened steel
13 5/8" OAL
8" Blade
Claro Walnut handle
Antiqued copper fittings
Extreme distal taper ending in needle sharp tip

That's nice! Great grind, crisp lines and nice fit. I've had a very similar knife profiled on my bench for months, this might just motivate me to finish it.
 
Simple, yet elegant. Very, very nice. I like it a great deal, especially the guard and throat. It just draws you in for a second look.

Thank you gentlemen for the compliments. This knife was both a challenge and a pleasure to build.

, The guard is a single piece which has been treated with liver of sulfur in order to darken the copper. The darker recess you refer to is simply a hand filed groove in which the full patina is visible, versus the non-recessed areas, which are hand rubbed until a good and even contrast is achieved.
 
I like the copper guard. What else is between the the 2 guard pieces? What did you use to antique the copper?
