Comparison between fake BM42 and real one

A french forumer did a comparison between the fake and the real one. I post that it (i try to translate vaguely) in order to permit to people whose don't have a good knowledge of the balisong worl to avoid to buy a fake at the price of the real BM42. Some dishonnest people have already began to try to sell fake as real......

The false is on the left, the real on the right.

Packaging is different the copy try to have a "luxuary packaging...."

Not the same completion on the handle

The completion of the latch is different. More angle on the copy.

Under the copy latch, no rounded part....

The completion level is poor on the fake.

The blade is not centered correctly on the copy, the completion is at some parsec of the completion level from benchmade.

The logo is etched differently.

The color are different

The grind is not perfectly symetrical.....

Some washer on the fake have been put away, there was 3-4 more by pivot........ to fullfilled the gap between blade and handle.

Material

the fake 42 is all steel, blade and handle, the two are magnetic... (difference with a BM42 SS with have un magnetic handle because the stainless steel is austenitic one ....), the screw are also magnetic.


The real 42 have ti handle. and magnetic screw.

Fake normaly in 440C but nothing to check that information....
The real have 154cm blade and ti handle.

I hope that comparison will avoid to some to be "stoled" by dishonnest people which will sale a fake for the price of the real one.....

Great post....I have had several of the reproduction 42,and 47.
I have never tried to sell one as the real thing...I think anyone who
would do that is the lowest scum of the earth and would most
likely do worse if had half a chance.....

I have actually traded for 20 of the repo ones and they looked even better
than the ones above.....Since I am no expert if I had been looking for a real one
I would not been able to tell the diffrence....

The ones I traded for had really nice but bent blue boxes,and really nice looking
sheaths that would probably fool alot of people.....But i for one,would never try
sell one as the real thing.....If i were to ever see anyone doing so would call
them out as well.

thanks for the comparison,but if I was looking for a real one and did not have one
to compare I am afraid I would still not be able to tell them apart other than the
blade steel stamp....Some of them are that good these days......It is scary what
people are doing to try make a buck...
