Folder Pivot Pin Clearance?

What do you mean? the clearance for the pivot pin to slip through the blade?
If so what I do is drill then ream the same size as the pivot, then use a barrel lap with 400grit SC laping compound till the pivot pin will just slide in.

Yep, what Stan said.

All my pivot holes get lapped in.

It only takes a minute, and only cost a few dollars to get set up.

Most folks should not be able to measure the difference in diameters between hole, and pivot.

Be careful with the barrel laps, they will remove metal quickly and then you will have too big a hole.

Stan, Thank you for the advise. I remember barrel lapping from my days working as a machinist. But I don't remember if I did it much. I remember seeing the tools.

Benefits of lapping are 1. you can lap to size after heat treat so that if there is any size or shape change you'll correct it, and 2. your hole will be true and smooth.

To answer your original question the clearance should be .0002-.0005".

Be sure you use a good pivot. I've seen inconsistent dimensions on the cheap ones, and even a couple that weren't truly round.
