I am an ex mechanic turned nerd (Systems Administrator... any more and your eyes will likely glaze over) that has always enjoyed making things with my hands. I especially enjoy working in metal and wood, which is one of the reasons that knife making has always been a dream of mine. Until recently I have had to set aside that dream in order to support my growing family, or circus if you prefer.
Now I find myself in a position where I should be able to build a basic workshop and start to realize my dream as I prepare for retirement in 10 or 15 years. Gotta keep my mind and body working as well as I can after all, right? In any case I plan to start off learning and refining stock removal techniques for the kind of knifes that I want to create. This will of course include learning about different steels, heat treating, appropriate tools and hopefully much more.
