Hi all, just a quick question. When you quench you're hamons do you get a ton of junk in your quench oil? If so is that ok? Thanks!

I've only done a few but with the ones I've done I only had a little bit of the clay pop off and sink to the bottom, it stayed in solid form so it didn't affect the oil any. most of the clay remained on the blade.

Yes. You will get a ton of stuff in your quench. You can sift it out with a kitchen utensil, minnow net, coffee filter, or cat litter whisk. Just about anything with small openings will work. Just make sure it is really clean so you don’t mess up your quench oil.
