help with nutralizing

I dyed a sheath with a vinigar stain and now it keeps rusting the blade . Is there any way to nutralize the vinigar in the leather?

There are several ways, you can spray windex directly into the sheath, or mix up some baking soda or TSP with water and wet the inside then let it dry for several days. That should neutralize the vinegar. But realize that with the inside of the sheath unsealed, the raw leather will collect moisture alot more readily.Dave

I have dipped sheaths that I use to use for a fishing knife in hot bees wax. You have to hold the throat of the sheath open so it can go inside and the wax needs to be warmed in a double boiler. The wax needs to be warm enough that it only leaves a thin coat!
