KBAC27D Question on SO cable size

Hello I am in the process of wiring my kbac 27 and 2hp leeson motor, and i had a question about the SO cord going from the VFD to the motor. I used 14-3 SO 600v for the power supply cable.
Does it need to be shielded, and should i use 14-4 SO cable or 16-4 SO cable, and would it be better to use 600v cable than 300v.

The manual says, "no larger than 12g" when I asked about that because usually you would expect it would say "not smaller than" I was just told that larger than 12g would not fit into the contacts. What you are interested in is the amps flowing and you can check the motor name plate to see what the amps is for the motor wired for 230v. It is most probably something way less than even would require 14g . Anyway, the $2.00 a foot and $2.00 each for the cable glands or $45.00 for the whole wiring kit with an 8' molded power cord, wire nuts and instructions for wiring and setting the VFD up.
