Made new/old friend last night

So which was it? Did I meet a new friend or an old friend. Well it was both in my case! I spoke with someone by phone, who I had only talked to on the forum before last night. I had some questions about leather work and he told me to give him a call sometime. After giving me his phone number I accidentally lost it in an email mishap. He was kind enough too understand and shot the number back to me for a second try.

So not knowing what exactly to expect I did something I rarely do in this fast paced world of technology I reached out to someone who for all practical purposes was a total stranger. Except for the talks we had by email I knew very little about this person, except that I had seen his leather work and too say he is good is a total understatement.

Our conversation began with, "hang on let me turn my TV down", and then it was on. I introduced myself and the conversation began to take on a life of its own. We talked about leather, we talked about some works he had done for others and even though he sounds like he may have traveled different circles than myself. It was the easiest conversation I have ever had with someone I barely knew.

My sister likes too say I never meet a stranger and she knows no one else who likes to tell a story any better than I do! So maybe that is a contributing factor in this conversation. Turns out he lives within about 80+ miles of where my sister lives. And even though he and I live half way across the country from one another I feel I have meant a new friend, as we seem to have a lot in common.

We both talked about our Grandchildren and yes he's got me beat as he has Great grand children. We talked about our health and in some ways it sucks too get old but neither one of us would probably go back and change a thing, as we both had fun getting this way. As our conversation went on my dog decides it's got to go out. So as I walk out with the dog and suddenly I realize I have lost the phone connection. Before I can think too much about it, the phone rings back, he has re-dialed me!

By now I realize I am totally at ease in this conversation with my old friend. We ended up talking about life, morals and whole lot of things that just seem to come up in a conversation with an old friend you haven't talked to in a while! Before I got off the phone he told me a joke and we laughed just as old friends would.

Some of you probably know my new/old friend as Kid, or KT, or Kid Terico, me I just refer to my old friend as Terry!

Terry says he don't drink coffee anymore and if you want some in his house to bring it with you, as he don't even have a coffee pot anymore. Well, Terry I brought my own cup this morning. In the spirit of my ancestors on mother's side of the family I lift it high to an Irish toast!

"My friends are the best friends
Loyal, willing and able.
Now let’s get to drinking,
All glasses off the table"

Or in this case I lift my coffee cup to you this morning and I feel much the richer for meeting Terry, my old friend!

CC all I can say is it was a HONOR to talk with you. I couldn't believe how much we have in common. As you get older your days sort of run together but this is one day I will remember and cant thank you enough for putting some cheer in my life not that I don't already have a lot but its nice to get the extra touch. Cant thank you enough and if you ever visit your sis I will make sure we get together I will wine and dine you to a night you will never forget because I will stick you with the Bill. Thank you a whole lot. Call any time. Your friend Terry alias KT

I know thing my old friend says hes getting too old for this stuff but, I don't buy that! Anyone with the talent hes got will keep on keeping on, he may slow a little but hey I ain't near as fast as I once was either!
