My Latest Fighter (are shiny knives "better"?)

Just off the bench; A2 blade hardened to about Rc60; nickle silver guards and pins. Gabon ebony handle. After I make a sheath, I'll sharpen it. I've only recently started to finish my knives to almost a mirror; when trying to sell a blade around here (hampton roads, va) people were already balking at the price of a "brushed finish" blade, so it becomes less cost effective for me to spend the extra time polishing up a knife like this. I mean, it doesn't make the knife any better; it's just shiny; and I don't fancy calling myself a metal polisher. That said, I do like the look of this knife and hope you do, too.

It is a really beautiful knife and seemingly well made.
Somehow, I personally do not like shiny knives, but I think your finish suits this knife. Well done!

thanks, Johan...while i like the look of this knife too, i usually give my blades a "brushed" finished off of a non-woven belt; i want my knives to be used (i make mostly hunters and other outdoors knives - guess i don't want the fighting knives to be used, haha) and don't want the owners to be concerned about damaging a smooth finish, but rather just use them for their intended purpose. also, as you know, it's alot of work to shine up the blade/guard, and people, at least around where i live, sometimes balk at the price of a "work grade" finished blade.
