3 late nights and early mornings and I have finished my first sgian dubh, or at least my modified interpretation of one. I'll certainly be making more of these. I've really enjoyed the work and finished style of this knife, can barely keep my hands off it long enough to type this!
8" OAL
3.25" sharp
3-5/8" to the bolster
1" wide
Aldo's 1084
Flat ground
hand sanded to 400, then jumped to 1000 and then polishing creme on a small buffing wheel. Overall it is a satin-esque finish, but has a good reflection to it.
simple filework around the entire spine and handle
brass bolster and pins with black liner and imi-stag handle.
I'll be doing a pancake sheath with a stud, so that I can have a removable frog. That way, it can be worn in a stocking (kilt-style) or with the frog on a belt.
