Simple guard/ferrule flute jig

Here's an easy way to keep your filing centered ...... just a couple pieces of steel, larger then the guard/ferrule you want to flute..... and then just use the correct size/diameter chainsaw/round file to cut the flute...... I finish with sandpaper wrapped around a rounded edge piece of micarta/g10, all the way to whatever finish I desire....

It's funny I was thinking of doing this on the knife I'm currently working on and no idea how to do it. Thanks Ed!

Great idea! Thanks Ed. I'll be making one of these. I'm thinking of milling recesses on the insides of the plates for the spacer to fit into. Then you could use shims between the plates and spacer to use different size files for different size flutes.
