stainless and D2 san-mai question

hello, me and my friend and fellow knife maker rudi zirlin have been experimenting with making stainless san-mai, but we are experiencing some difficulties.

this was our latest stainless and CPM D2 san-mai, it's the third bar we made so far, the first one had the same problem, but the second one was great,
the weld line seems have small "bubbles" in it, we sand all the pieces first to remove any oxidation then clean with alcohol, clamp, SS weld and spray WD40 between the layers , heat and forg, but the results are inconsistent, do you guys have any ideas what we are doing wrong?

here are the pics of the good bar and as you can see the the pattern in the last bar was great but the tip area had a bad weld and a piece of SS came off
