The Fred Bear Project

My "big" piece for Blade this year is a Fred Bear themed bowie knife. I included vintage Bear Razorhead broadheads in the damascus, which you can see as the dark lines on the sides of the "arrow" that I put down the middle of the blade. I wrapped the arrow billet in bars of twist 1084/15n20. The handle is from the riser of a 1966 Kodiak bow. I left the original markings, and put in the traditional Bear medallion on the back side. The sheath inlay is the paddling Indian from a vintage Bear hip quiver, and the sheath has black bear hair fringe. I've included a bit of Bear memorabilia including an autographed photo. I did a work in progress thread as I built, on "the other knife forum." Here's a link to the same WIP on the Texas Bowhunting Forum.

Here's a video view as well.

Awesome. Brings back memories. My first bow was a Fred Bear - Black Bear recurve with 45 lb pull if I remember correctly and the next bow was a Fred Bear Kodiak with 55 lb pull. Wish I still had them.
