What exactly does "Jigged" mean?

When looking at scale material I see "jigged" bone as well as other materials claiming to be "jigged". How is this made?

It's been hit with a die grinder or similar tool to put facets into the surface. Jigged bone is meant to look like Stag.

Thanks for being brave enough to ask this... I was wondering too! And thanks for the answers! ;) (Doing the macaroni jig now...)
