TW90 Shipping

So I've been patiently waiting for this grinder. The order was received on October 19th. I called yesterday and it's going to be shipped next week! The site says there is at least a 4-6 week delivery backlog so I was good with that.
I was surprised the call was answered by Travis and what a great guy! He said he had been countersinking all day and the computer wasn't on so he couldn't check on my order at that time. But he would give me a call back, which he did and informed of the shipping date.
I had to go back and watch the FIF episode he was on. He is a very skilled knife maker. I'd like to meet him in person some day.
I'm excited, I've ordered a new supply of belts and ready to try out this new grinder!

I've had the honor of chatting with Travis a couple of different years at Blade and a nicer man you'll never meet. His videos are very informative on knifemaking also. He's darn good. I think all his experience in front of the camera helped him on FiF to keep his plan in place rather than get distracted. I expect if he consented to go on FiF the 3rd time, he'd win again.

He's sure got some good equipment, TW90, SGA attachment, etc.

Yeah, I've got Travis' cell phone number in my phone and I've talked to him a few times.

He's very hands on and always takes the time to talk and explain.

OP you may want want to order his doubler plates that he's making now. They're VERY handy. I use them all the time.

I could have made them but they're not that expensive and I don't mind throwing business Travis'way.

Man opaul, I'm jealous! Saving my pennies now for a TW-90. Spoke with Travis at the Blade Show last Year and KenH is right I don't think you will meet a nicer guy. He was very kind to everyone, taking pictures and joking around. He's quite funny too. Plus he makes a excellent grinder. :)

I bought one...with sga...a couple years back. Love it. Met Travis at the Pasedena, Ca. show and ordered one a couple days later. I use the sga (surface grinding attachment) mostly for dusting the blade surface after HT. I do all my grinding after ht.

Yes...he is a real nice guy.

The lady I normally deal with concerning grinders is not friendly at all. I’d even go as far as saying she’s a little mean, but in her defense, Harbor Freight is always super busy especially at this time of year. She hardly ever gets a smoke break.

OP, enjoy that grinder... I know it’s gonna be awesome.

Tell me more about the double plates. What would be the advantage? Believe me. I need all the help I can get. ;)

KenH already posted the video.

I'll add that the platen plate is the one I use a lot. In the horizontal position it allows the entire platen to be used along with both wheels.

The magnets are ridiculously strong. I have to use a small rubber mallet to get them off. The upside is that they don't move when you don't want them to.

Travis calls them doubler plates, but I think of them as tool rests. Here's a video where he's showing the use of the doubler plate on a small wheel attachment:

Well I ordered the plates. Hopefully I can get them shipped with the grinder. I asked for them to do that for me.
Thanks for pointing these out. They will be a great help I’m sure.
