I hear hog hunting in Texas and elsewhere is a necessity as the hogs do mega damage to crops, I would love to go night shooting for them.

Are there any destructive hogs near where you live.

Yes lots of hogs here in the Texas panhandle. They will tear up a crop very quickly and can be very aggressive so if I seen one it gets shot on site.

I shoot rabbit, hare, pheasant and a few deer, I have eaten all but not keen on pheasant, hare, the deer is good, the only wild boar I have eaten was in Portugal in a stew, excellent, I would eat your wild boar I am sure.

Here in Florida they are a major problem. We don’t see the level of destruction that Texas sees, probably because we have so much swampland that the hogs have plenty of food aside from cropland. They destroy the land wherever they are found.

I love hunting them. Here in the thick Florida woods and swamps we shoot them at very close range. I find 55gr Barnes TSX solid copper bullets in .223 (5.56mm) drops them in their hoofprints.

You really have to get them as babies for them to be very good eating once they get older they tend to get more and more rancid and don’t taste very good at all

Yep. The little ones taste better. After about 150lbs they aren’t so great.

Plenty of folks down here trap them and feed them for a bit to get rid of the gaminess before slaughtering them.

Here's my personal best, the scale said #265 but I think he may have been a little bigger. I shot this guy in my future back yard.
I have a 180 acre hunt lease next to me and the yahoos in it trucked them in.
one of the reasons I bought there was because there weren't any hogs, sure their fun to kill, on someone else's land.
I keep a year round corn feeder running for the deer so all their hogs came over to my place.
they say once you got them, you'll never get rid of them but with in 2 years me and my neighbors killed every last one.
their fun to kill and eat good but you don't want them on your land, they destroy everything. :(
