OPauls Knife Picture Thread

Even though micarta etc. is quite popular now days I really like the work you do with antler. Moose antler is very nice "in the hand".
I tend to gravitate more towards what feels best vs the looks. Ergomonics and all that.
The density of moose antler and the way it feels in my hand satisfies both visual and tactile.
Synthetics appeal to my eye but unless very exotic don't quite "get me there".......................

Axis deer antler is another good one. Very dense with just the little hole down the center (approx.) like Sambar. I bought four fairly straight 6" rounds from a texas rancher online (eBay I think) round to oval in cross section, 1" to 1 1/4". Very dense and heavy.
Not much in the way of desireable surface texture and cream to gray to white from the outside in at least on the 4 I bought.
I'm going to experiment with hidden tang style and a mixture of different leather dyes on one and see what happens with the transition through the outer color layers. Too busy to do it until fall or later summer though..................
