Does anybody have advice on cleaning up flats after heat treat..specifically folder blades but fixed blades as well. It's always hard to get my W2 cleaned up after a clay heat treat. Thanks!

I'm just starting my first chisel grind for giggles and have a couple of questions.
Can you grind down to about .015 to .017 and then put a symmetrical edge on it?
How do those of you who chisel grind do you main edge?

Thanks for all the input and advice. It's going on my short list for sure. I'm glad you touched on the horizontal mounting. I was wondering about that. It seems that for flattening parts horizontal would be best. That way you have gravity working in your favor.

I am looking into getting a varible speed disk grinder to help flatten parts. I buy my steel percision ground and Im not looking at removing much stock with this grinder. I was wondering if there are any tips that I need to know or do I need to do something else.

I was just wanting to know more about draw filing. Are any makers using this method? Is anyone making tactical folders using this method? Any pics? I was thinking about trying my hand at it some time. Thanks

Taking the overall attraction out of the picture because it can be subjective.
For Folders
=I like a really good blade to handle ratio. I dont like it when the handle looks much longer or larger than the blade. This takes a little more forethought when designing but it's worth it...
Well I was at Andy's shop the other day and he was working on some flipper folder orders and I was not able to talk him out of one. However, he was finishing this neck knife and another one for a local charity. I was able to score this one and it's an awesome neck knife. Thanks for looking.
