    Will this thing help?

I initially had the same issue with uneven grinds and tried using jigs and such but eventually gave them up. Somewhere on one of the forums I read that one should start a grind with one's weaker hand and took it to heart. Oddly, when it comes to grinding, my left hand is now my strong hand as it...

    how hard stabilized wood?

Ken, I have a piece of maple done by our very own, Faron Moore, at that sucker is super hard in comparison the other pieces that have not been treated. Some pieces have come back so dense and scratch resistant that it made working then nearly as difficult at the blade itself. hahaha. :)

    Help Please: Motor Maintenance

After a LONG four days of "white glove," cleaning my shop and doing yearly maintenance on every piece of equipment and tool I find myself with a persistent problem with one of my Leeson 2hp 3ph motors. I took it apart to retrieve the ground screw which fell in while trying to attach the ground...

    Improved GIB tracking

So after playing with the GIB for over a year now, I've used many different configurations with better results each time. The first was stock and the tracking was all over the place due to a bad tap and not enough tension on the belts. The second configuration was with the idler arm in its...

    Rattle snake!

Reminds me of the copperhead I killed a few weeks back when hiking along the lakes edge in hunt of Mesquite forks (slingshot making addiction added to knife making). My two boys and I nearly stepped on it, my oldest son pointed it out and I smacked it on the back of the head with my bamboo...

    Chef knife steel question

Dave, you can send it out to Peter's, depending on your timing needs. I'll have a batch going out to him in a few weeks, you are more than welcome to piggyback your blade(s) with mine. How large is it going to be? Is it your first kitchen knife? Also, 1084 Makes a good kitchen knife if you're...

    Cad help

Well, guys I'm in a bind. I need to get a CAD drawing of blade done in the next three days and don't have the ability to get it just like I want. Is there anyone who'd be willing to trade some CAD work for some handle material? :) Shoot me a PM if you'd be willing to do some swapping. Thank...

    Prehistoric man----ADHD----Contemporary knife making.

Good post Fred, I was going to reply on that other forum but didn't see your thread upon returning to it a day later. My oldest son, much like yours, has a high IQ and loves his mastodon.

portable band saw which one ?

Vegils, I've gone through 4 HF portabands in less than 18 months. All had the same failure; the bearing system is absolute garbage! Of course, HF is only a 10 minute drive from my home and their warranty assured that I spend only the original amount and no more. Each replacement was covered. If...

Double guard and framed handle, rear bolsters too

Bruce, you seriously need to consider putting a book or ebook together. The nuances that most would overlook or never think of seem to make all the difference. Everyone of your WIPs and Tutorials brings me closer to making the knives I dream of. :)
