So rebuilding my grinder... My old grinder has always been decent but has a lot of room for improvement. The belt flaps and vibrates, its not flat on the platen (always seems to be slightly convex), also doesnt track well side to side. Ive used top of the line grinders and its no comparison...

To answer the Hp question... Im a HUGE fan of overkill... But having said that, 3Hp might actually suit me better.

Its time to upgrade the old grinder. Im thinkng I want to get a 5hp motor. I would like a three phase but my shop isnt set up for three phase. Also im curious if these motors can be run on their side with the drive shaft sticking up. Heres the options ive found in my area and in my price...

1095 Sanded too 220 Cleaned with varsol and dried/wiped with blue shop towel. The blade came out of the etch with a wierd three tone pattern. Not sure what happened but it does look cool. Anyone know what this is?

Ok so... one burner, 20psi. I partially blocked the other burner hole just to see what effect it has. The "air throttle" seems to have very little effect. Once warmed up it seems to improve a bit, the flame seems neutral...? ish... then yellow flame. It is a fairly consistent flame. There is no...
