    Dyed Stabilized maple

    I just went out to the shop and ground the biggest block I had right past the center and I am getting full penetration through the middle. I sanded it down to 1000 grit and put 1 coat of boiled linseed oil on it. Looks really good. Jim

    James No I havn't done that yet. These were just sanded to 36 grit and lightly rubbed with boiled linseed oil. They were "VERY" pink before I oiled them. I thought for a while that I had some handle material for women knives only. Very happy to see them darken up with oil. Jim

    Paint Finally got some paint on the presses. They were supposed to be Dark Grey with Orange cylinders but there was no room in paint bay while they were painting grey. We had lots of room when we were painting orange, so orange they are. Jim

    Those flanges are 150 lb. I pull as much vacuum as possible here, which is about 27.5". Once I'm done pulling vacuum(approx 1-2 weeks) I will hit it with about 400-500lbs of pressure for 1-2 weeks as well. (just to make sure the juice is completely through the wood).
