Can you explain a bit more. I am obviously confused. When would you switch to a sharpening bevel? Right at the edge?

How do you all get such long plunge lines. I find that I get very short bevels when I flat grind. For example a 20º angle on a 1/8 steel only gives a bevel 3/8 or so up the blade. My stock is 1 1/4 so basically I have almost an inch with no bevel and that just seems wrong.

I am glad to hear such good things. I got a whole mess of knives I'll be sending him in the next couple of weeks.

I was in danger of falling for this myself recently. I am sticking with one metal for now but I was playing with new designs. I caught myself though. I have a few designs that I am going to stick with for a while and really try to perfect them. Thanks for the post. It will help me keep focused.

I saw those but they only hold one of a time. Anyone have a solution for mutiple blades?

How do you guys store knives once you have completed them but before you have sold them? I would hate to put all that work into a knife then throw it in a drawer.

Well couldn't wait until tonight and did it this afternoon. Here is a picture of the tile sitting on top of the grinder. It is a Ryobi 4 x 36 with a 6 inch disk. The same model you see everywhere. In order to see where to put the tile, I drew a line with a sharpie along the edge of the belt...

Picked up a ceramic tile at home depot for 14 cents. I will take some pics tonight while it set it up and post them tomorrow.
