I have a Tens machine from a back injury that I never use anymore and was wondering if anyone has used or thinks it may be used for a etcher. For those who don't know, a Tens uses a adjustable electric pulse to help relieve pain to the body.

I've been using AEB-L for the last couple of knives I made and they are magnetic after heat treating. Is this normal or do I need to change something in my process.

I use ernies's stencils. Mine lasted along time before I switched to 24v but I think if I etch for just a second or two on AC after the DC ill be ok. I really able to get deep etching now.

My stencils would last a long time on 12v, now at 24 they burn up quick but I get a good etch. Wonder if the store bought are any different. I just etch for a much shorter time but the AC seems to hurt the stencil the most.

Ill get a capacitor as well.

Thanks a lot guys, problem solved. I switched the black wire with the yellow and I can really here the sizzle now. I'm getting a good etch, I just need to hold much shorter cause it can really kill the stencil.

I'm getting a drop of 12 to 7 on DC and from 13 to 10 AC. With the load.

somehow the top one came out but the bottom two are what I usually get even after cleaning all contact areas.

here's the transformer I'm using. I get some better pics later today.

I got 12 vdc and 13 vac. Does that sound about right.

I already have a charger, I might try it to see what happens.

Yeah, I started doing light pressure for some reason and I don't no why.

Ill double check the voltage, maybe I read the wrong scale. Since my voltage may be to high I put two felt pads on the marker and got a much better etch. I also pressed down much harder on the marker.

Thanks, I'm using parts from radio shack. Ill see if I can find the schematic I used. Ill try a different etch solution as well.

I just checked and have 60 volts on DC and 65 on AC. Negative lead on my marker and positive on the ground. Does that sound normal?
