    Black ash burl skinner

Thanks for the kind words and the constructive criticism. The whole angled plunge line started when I began making knives on a 10" cone loc grinding wheel I wanted to get a flatter grind rather than what I could get on the wheel. I was suggested that if I angled the blade while grinding that it...

    my first slipjoint

Got it finished up this evening. I used 1/16" aluminum liners and cocobolo dymondwood scales. Definitely not perfect but I'm proud as heck with it. It is pretty snappy opening and closing but far from difficult. I will be making more of these slippys for sure. Thanks everyone for all your help...

    my first slipjoint

Thanks guys I will have to fwd that chart to him as he said his chart only goes up to 1000f and shows that ending up at 61rc. my first slipjoint

Is there any way I can temper it lower myself? I know I have seen others use 154cm for blade and spring so it must be possible to temper it lower somehow....

    my first slipjoint

Just heard from the heat treaters and they are telling me that they are unable to temper 154cm down below 56-57 is this going to be ok?

    Hardness question

I left he edge a bit thicker than I would have with a slicer. I left it just a bit thicker than a dime (the batteries in my micrometer were dead when I went to check)

    Hardness question

Hey dogs, I've got a batch of blades that will be heading to heat treatment tomorrow. Among them is my first kitchen chopper/cleaver. I used 2"x 3/16" 440c and it is 11.5" long from tip to tail with a 5.5" handle. My question is regarding what rc I should be asking for as the customer told me he...
