Have fun stitching that money belt, that takes a while. When someone orders those I hope they are skinny. If you stitch the bullet loops between them the main seam and billets there are around 650-700 stitches in a money belt. Give or take depending on size.

Where to get leather and a few other questions

You used to have to be a business in order to buy from Weaver unless something has changed. I used to buy quite a bit from them, theirs is "TR" grade so it's hit and miss on the quality. If you are buying a few sides and ask they do seem to do a better job of picking you some good stuff. I still...

    Something completely different.......

Thanks Chuck, and I know what you mean about irons in the fire, I may take you up on that at some point for some info on beading. For now if someone wants it I'll probably have to send them your way or work with you on it since I already have way more ideas and interest than I do time. I've had...

Thanks fellas, those are woven loops. A good way to tell is the stitched loops will be almost touching one another even when the belt is rolled like in the pic. I've actually gotten where I don't mind toe plugs, just part of sewing up a holster. Man I know what you mean about a Mastiff. My...

Chuck your bead work is extraordinary. Something I always wanted to try but don't know where to start nore do I have the knowledge of the different Native American styles of the different periods. You sir are the master. If you don't mind me asking where did you get the concho on the breast...

    Another rig done

Thanks guys, KT, It's obvious your a leather expert to notice:biggrin: It's funny you noticed the skirt because I actually traced the lower skirt of that holster pattern when making the Mexican loop for the knife. I just thought it needed to be that way to pull it together. As for the...

The knife sheath is more of the color of the rig, the pictures are showing things darker looking.

    Another rig done

I will have to try and get better pics of this one before it leaves. Everything is snow covered here and was getting terrible reflections and uneven tones.

    Some gun leather orders finished

Thanks KT. Its a little more plain than I normally do this style but it's what the customer wanted. He plans to hunt with the top one thus the 44 mag loops and only twenty of them so he can wear the loops on the side or in the front. I also buffed the coating off of the buckle so it will get a...

    My son, the machinist.

That is awesome! Looks like he's doing a great job. Thanks for sharing We have to go to University of Scouting tomorrow for training but Cole and I are hoping to get started on his car this weekend. This year will be his third car, he's a Bear. We use bullets to make up the weight and try...

Most common mistakes that beginners make

Trying to get too much out of a belt or paper is a good example. I'm such a tightwad I still have to remind myself I'm wasting my time. Best advice I ever heard on that is use them like they are free.

Thinking of doing a Loveless style chute Knive

Gil Hibben's boot knives are like the Loveless chute knife in that the guard slides over the blade. The handle is just slightly bigger than the recasso area to leave a lip to bump up against. I've helped do several of those and they can be a challenge to get right, some file work in the corners...

    Cabelas rebate/code

Does anyone have a Cabelas rebate/code they aren't going to use? Maybe 30 off 150 or something. They seem to send them all the time and now that I need to place an order I don't have one.:2: Seems like there are always ones people have on the duck hunters forum but not now, maybe they quit...

    inexpensive band saw?

Probably so, I would prefer a 14 TPI on that thickness. That's what I run on all my horizontal saws and it works good all around. I've been running a 14-18 TPI on my vertical saw for about the last year and it has done good sawing out blades and still will cut thin stuff without grabbing too...

2010 Knife Dogs Choice Awards Categories

I understand Steven, we have to draw the line somewhere. Maybe by next year we can come up with some sponsors for some awards so we can break the categories down more.
