Hey guys - Thanks for clarifying - I was certainly confused why more than one hardening cycle was needed.

This converts back to log splitter by removing two bolts - Takes all of 5 minutes. I use it every year to spilt all of my firewood so its truly dual purpose for me.

Must be this kind of stuff doesn't interest poeop as I would have expected mire responses or questions.

Why do you do multiple hardening cycles?

Damascus made by me with raindrop type pattern and 15n20 core. Billet also has 1084 and 1095. Sales are native oak salvage rom old harness in my families barn. Thanks for looking!

Care to share how you did heat treat? I have two 4' pieces from Aldo that I ordered by accident and was getting around to using. Did you quench in warm oil? How long/many of a temper cycle was done?
