Hello,
I know this is a tired subject but looking for possible help.
I have a bunch of knife blade blanks. (30-40 of them) They look like Spyderco folder blades with the big Spyderco hole in them. A friend of mine gave them to me and he said he got them from a garage sale. I am currently talking...
Well there didn't seem to be a lot of interest in a WIP so I figure I'll just post up a quick finished pic of the knife. There are a few things on the knife that didn't come out quite as well as I would have liked but all in all it was a success and I learned a bunch for the next one like this...
Hello all,
Been a long time since I've been hanging out here.
I've gotten a few knives done in the time I've been gone. They have mostly been a tactical fighter style I came up with. I have given these away to a few friends and family who are in the military and one is in Afghanistan with a...
Full time fireman, work two days a week in an archery shop, hunt and fish myself and with the kids as often as I can, and I just started reloading. Dont tell but I got the wife a fly pole for Christmas and hoping to get her out this spring.
TacticallySharp, is that just a white shower curtain? What is the smaller reflector in the front? What do you mean about the reflection on shiny blade is larger than the shower curtain?
Thanks.
I have no experience with Jantz Supply but Boss also sells the Personalizer Plus at a great price. I have had nothing but great service and help from them. I will be buying one from them when funds allow.
Thats a cool style. I like it. For the other style bolster I have used Maxcutters WIP. I tried to link to it but it didnt come through. It's in the new WIP list.
Good luck to the granddaughter Calvin!
+1 on the butter or fat for frying. I also have it pretty hot and go fast. DONT over cook. If you like your meat a bit rare its definitly best that way. Over cooking gets it a little tough real quick. One other thing on the burgers. Like I said before, I'm...
To knifecarver; Did you happen to get any backstrap or tenderloin. That is good stuff. I like to just butterfly them nice and thin and fry them in a cast iron skillet with butter and nothing else other than salt and pepper. The burger is great for anything you would normally use burger for...
Heres my daughters first buck. She did a great job. That parts cool but the other part of the story is he was field dressed and skinned for a shoulder mount with my third built knife. It worked well and held a solid edge the entire job.
Thats a good question. Im not sure of the answer but it would seem to me that the ceramic tile is a little more fragile than the glass platen I bought. Looking forward to seeing opinions on this. I have lots of tile.
Wow am I exited. I have always wanted a damascus knife and now I can build my own! I will be needing help along the way for heat treating so please stay tuned.
Thanks Fred. Its much appreciated.

Like said above, just keep hanging out here and reading up. I trolled around on here for a year before I started my first knife. I spent that time reading as much as I could, building my grinder and collecting or building as many tools as I could as money and time allowed. When ready just jump...
