Looking at buying a 2×72 grinder finally.

That is awesome. But now the cost is getting a little out there for me. If knife making were my full time job, I could see spending that kind of money.

Looking at buying a 2×72 grinder finally.

Thanks cliffrat. This is what I'm looking for. Advice from people that have spent their money already. I'd prefer to not need another upgrade in the future. I'll look into the grinder you listed. Still, I do have a budget. But I'm open to the possibility of fudging that..... Thanks again.

Looking at buying a 2×72 grinder finally.

So I've made enough knives with my crappy grinder that I finally want to upgrade to a decent grinder. Any 2/72 will be a massive upgrade from what I've been using.....But I'm looking at the Polar Bear forge set up, Pheer and Oregon Blade Maker. I want to stay around the 1k mark or alot less...

Not a knife, but badass! Hatchet. Advice needed.

So, just for fun, I bought a couple old saw mill circular saw blades. I'm going to use them to make big choppers and maybe a few hatchets. So, the handle on this right now is 1 3/4 of an inch wide. I does feel odd in my hand, but I know that's also because I don't have the wood or micarta...

    Friction folder, code name DAG.

Looking good. Fixing that missing chunk of wood looked like an easy fix. A pisser for sure though when it happened.

    Finished another friction folder.

I like making these easier friction folding knives. But my next project will be an attempt at a slip joint. Kirinite isn't for everyone, but I really dig this bowling ball looking material.

    Tool suggestions.

Thanks for taking the time to type up all this information guys. Seriously. Learning from all of your experience is very much appreciated. I'll definitely get some better quality bits, reamers and go from there. I'll practice with the different sizes first for sure. I didn't think using the...

    Tool suggestions.

I've destroyed 3 folders this weekend, and all three times it was because I have been using cheap tap sets or drill bits. Can anyone recommend what I should buy in these two categories? The harbor freight taps just aren't cutting it. I've learned my lesson on buying cheap tools.

    Stainless Steel Folders

The first folding knives I made were with 440c. Not brittle and keeps its edge for a long time. My father has my first ever and still hasn't had to sharpen it and he uses it every single day. It's all in the heat treating as well. I had a professional do my heat treating since 440c is hard to...

    Texturing copper scales.

I had a hunk of copper bar stock lying around and decides to use it for the scales on a friction folder. Instead of just shaping the scales and sanding it smooth, I was thinking about adding some texture. I was thinking about adding a design with the drill press or hammering it. Only thing is...

Lots of great insight fellas. Thanks. I have a copper handled knife I'm working on currently, I think I'll do what I can with the leftovers and see what comes of it.
