Yea, i think it will make a good skinner now, i lost a good 1.5 inches off the blade.

i figured out a way to recycle the steel, good thing my dad likes smaller knives LOL

well at least i learned something, do watch the knife at all times, and dont keep the forge on full blast.

Well, when i was heat treating, i let the forge get too hot and waited too long, and the tip fell or melted off :( ban1

So i am out that billet of steel :(

Yep, my forge got WAYY to hot, the tip melted off i was just too late, if only my brother had gotten those vice grips instead of me getting them.

I melted the knife :(

I can get some veggie oil, i just heard motor oil worked, and we have leiters of used motor oil.

How hot does it need to get ( no way to measure temp), and how long must it stay there?

Ok, so my knife is ready to be heat treated, what do i have to do to heat treat with a primitive forge, i have motor oil to quench, oh and the steel is 5160, and it is around .25 thick on the spine.
