    Getting closer........ to shaving.

I switched about half a year ago and will never go back to safety razors. There is just nothing like a shave frome such a sharp hunk of sexy steel :D When I grow up, I want to be good enough to grind straight razors!

    A couple of recent bowies

I see them now. Really like the copper guard and black walnut. Great contrast makes it eye catching. Very nice work on them both! -Eric

Does Sharpie Marker burn off while grinding?

Thanks for all the advise guys I figured it might burn off if I got it too hot. I really like the idea where you scribe the marker line. I am just going to do both from now on just to be sure I don't lose my design. Thanks again guys! -Eric

Does Sharpie Marker burn off while grinding?

Thanks Randy. Last thing I wanted was to finally get started grinding only to have to stop because my design started burning off :52:

Does Sharpie Marker burn off while grinding?

So I'm done with my first knife design and I want to transfer the design onto a metal billet. I cut an outline of the design using some graphing paper and then used some clear packaging tape to sort of laminate it. The idea was to tape the design onto the billet and then use a sharpie marker...

    Grinder..

I, as well as countless others on this site, know the situation you are in. I spent the last 4.5 months trying to decide what grinder to go with. Countless hours were spent on the Internet before I found this site. I would love to start a thread asking everyone to add up the number of years...

Finally built up the courage to post a few pics

Thanks guys. Actually the buckeye is stabilized and I didn't buff it at all. I just went to 320 grit dry sanding for a decent satin finish on the pins and bolsters and kept a bit of grip on the wood. I wanted this knife as a user and just knew I would beat it up a lot. The blade was a semi...

Finally built up the courage to post a few pics

So I Have put a few handles on a few knife blanks already, but this is the first one I am actually proud of. I just got a working camera again so I had to take a few pictures after many hours of field testing. Not the best pics so sorry if the flash is obnoxious, still learning my new camera...

    Big Green Grinding Machine

Hey Billy, I was thinking the same thing. I really like the idea of the adjustment being tool less. But no matter what I think I am going to need the torque of a tool to make sure that pivot arm stays put. I was messing with the idea of welding a rod on the top of the bolt and another on the...

    Big Green Grinding Machine

Very nice build Billy. I too am in the process of finishing my no weld grinder. Your pics are making me think twice about painting it ;) I had a question about how you attached the pivot arm to the tool arm. I got my pivot arm from Tracy's website and the mounting hole is 3/4'' so I drilled...

    Damascus Hunting Knives = Happiness

I'm not by any means an expert, but I know beauty when I see it! Some of the talent on this site is just sinful and those pictures are proof of that! Great work. Buckeye is some of my favorite handle material. I also agree with Max about the structions.

    Metals to practice grinding on

Thanks guys! I figured that some cheap metal would be the way to go but I really like the idea of paints sticks too. God I'm so cheap ;)
