I usually take an adhesive sanding disk and stick it on a sheet of glass. I sand the tang by rubbing it on the disk. till it lays flat on the glass. Then do the same with the stag. If the tang and the stag both lay flat they have to fit. ( hypothetically)

Hey Dan. It's .335 at the guard and tapers to .227 at the tip just befor the bevel.

Being a Grandpa is great. Congrats!When my grand-daughterwas a baby. I used to stop by my sons on the way home from work about 5:30PM also her nap time, wake her up play with her for 10 min or so then leave. Your gonna love it.

Thanks Murph, I have had hamons blow scale before but just in spots so I sanded smooth and etched to bring out the line. Never had one blow both sides evenly. Might be my new EDC. Yes edge hardened and spine is soft.

This is a work in progress. 10" Bowie/Fighter in 1095. I think she may have been a little hot at quench. The scale blew off and left a deep pattern. I kinda liked it and just sanded to 800. This blade has not been etched. So is this really a hamon?
