Customer Order - Buffalo Hunter remake

Here's a piece that I've recently finished. The customer requested that I make a similar knife to a Buffalo Hunter that his brother had gotten from their father. He had a photo and sent it to me with dimensions of what he wanted. I recreated it with a 1095hc steel and brass furnishings with...

Beautiful! How did you manage to stain the antler/bone? It really adds that extra touch.

    Finished cpm3v chopper/machete(updated with video)

That looks great but WOW, I can only imagine how the grinding went on it. That steel is as tough as the blade looks. Hope you did some pre-HT grinding to save on belts. That'll last you a good long time.

    My first Damascus blade

Great looking blade overall. I have to agree with Anthony that this is something I'd want to keep as a family heirloom because of what is put into it and it being a milestone blade. In any case, I'm sure you'll get a great price for it at the show. It's beautiful.

    Unagisaki and Deba

That's a great video, thanks for sharing. Even though I didn't understand what was said, the angle depictions and explanations said a ton. How thick is the blade at the spine?

    Cold, Cold

Wow, I feel for you all. It's been a chilly 45* in the mornings here in eastern San Diego, Ca when I leave for work. I even had to wipe my brow of sweat today because it was 79* and we were grilling some prime rib and tri-tip for a company lunch. Hard days here. Of course on the other...

    Nicholson File Knives

Those are great looking pieces overall. Your grind lines and plunges are getting much more clean and even. I love making file knives and the steel is pretty good overall.

First attempt at forging a blade...

Thank you Mike, I spent a lot of time just hammering on metal not really making anything but playing around and getting a feel of the hammer, anvil and steel. I've been calling it the "Blacksmith's Trinity" at home and my wife just rolls her eyes at me. I've been making blades for about 4...
