    Thanks for the comments guys. I really like making this style of friction folder. I think the beauty is it's simple and it just works. I call them the Snare, gentleman's friction folder. @Aelgin the pins in the fixed blades are carbon fiber.

    The Phosphorus bronze washers are a good choice, i think they also come in nylon or Teflon. i have only used the phosphorus bronze, so i cannot comment on the others.

    i have built a few, on the smaller knives i use 1/8" pivot, on the larger knives i would go with 3/16" pivot. I will use either 1/8" pivots or 1/8" round stock for stop pins on the smaller knives. on a larger knife you might want to use a hardened pivot or stop pin. you are going to want to ream...

    Stone washed finish?

    ill take the whole blade up to 800 or 1000 before i etch. the last couple i did, i went to a mirror polish before etch. in fact the last ones i did not stone wash, i cold blued them and hit them with 0000 steel wool. they looked too nice to stone wash. the etch can bring out the imperfections..

    A few knives I've just finished or finished right around the end of last year.. i like making the friction folders.. i might focus on them for the next few months.. i would really like to learn how to do a locking folder or a slip joint..

    My latest friction folders

    O1 steel blades, acid etched, blued and stone washed. stainless or brass liners. closed they are 4-1/2" open they are about 6-1/4". what do you guys think? I really like making them.
