    Ed now that is more like exactly what i did...not alot of pressure, but it was just steady pressure..no backing off.. Great info..thank you.. is there any household products what will work as "cutting oil" or do I just need to shelf the project until i get to go shopping again?

    this is a kitchen use only knife... so strictly for the board Rhino and yeah..I see what you mean about the front of the scales.. I find it pleasing to the eye... but for a new guy to pull off.... thats probably another story

    ok..yet another dumb question from the new guy.. long story short...scales are from 100+ year old oak flooring, making for Amish neighbor for heirloom reasons...the wood is hard and dry..about what you would expect from old flooring...also light in color...I don't like it when last they saw it...

    thanks! yeah.. lesson learned on the epoxy type...in fact I found another thread here that went into great detail about epoxy types.. so won't be making that mistake again

    One good thing about this knife making problems and such...with the help of this forum...it's a self correcting problem...if you can figure it out... you probably won't repeat it
