i love making micarta. my next trial will be a combo of old grey jeans and black cloth. i compress mine with a 1 ton press, too much pressure though and it will push the goopy mixture out of one side.

i have wondered the same thing, i was thinking of stabilizing then carving a design and accenting the deep portions with a burner

yeah, 416 ss is the second most common. i have trouble finding it thicker than .062" though.
